Elevator and Escalator Repairs
Elevator and escalator repair involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and fixing the mechanical and electrical systems that operate elevators and escalators in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Repairs often include replacing worn cables or belts, fixing or adjusting brakes, repairing motors and gear assemblies, correcting electrical faults, and calibrating sensors and control systems. Routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and testing emergency systems, are also part of keeping elevators and escalators in safe working order. Technicians start by inspecting the equipment for signs of malfunction, which may include unusual noises, jerky or slow movements, door problems, or errors in control panels and safety systems. Both mechanical components—such as motors, cables, pulleys, gears, brakes, and drive systems—and electrical elements, including wiring, sensors, and control circuits, are examined to pinpoint issues.
